At last! After months of thinking if I should put up my own website/blog, my indecisiveness fades away as I get motivated to really decide and make my own blog thanks to that local TV commercial that always flashes the word "blogger". It has always been my passion to write but merely got the chance to expand my knowledge about this field as I'm still a teenager and preoccupied with many worldly things.
After making up my mind if I should start a new blog comes along another tricky situation. This is the most crucial part especially if you want to make your own website/blog to grow or to go live for long term. This is, setting up a blog name. Most amateur or beginner blogger like me take this phase for granted not knowing that this one or two word name will be their key on having success. Your blog name will be your brand. This is where people specifically your audience will mostly know you. Setting up a blog name can take weeks or months as one should be unique and vigilant on picking names because there are domain names that might be similar to your blog name that already exist.
I thought a lot of names and could not make up my mind. I even use a robot to generate names for me. For my last resort, I seek advises of some professional and well known bloggers out there.
Here are some tips they gave to me:
- Be true to the focus of your blog. Is it a personal blog? Or a niche blog?
- Avoid long names and hard to pronounce name.
- Add a twist to the name of the blog by mixing one or two words.
- The blog name should have a connection to your topic.
A Bitlander friend also a blogger suggests that a blog name should not contain letters like X and Q. Which is really a helpful tip as those letters can be confusing to other letters when pronounced.
After some brainstorming and research I finally come to the point to finalize the name of my blog — Friendiary. The name still feels a little bit mediocre but I think my blog name suits the topic I'll be writing. My focus to my newly made blog is to produce articles that'll give motivation and inspiration to my readers through life's experiences.
Picture above is is the header of my blog which I made that contains the words I want to emulate to my audiences through my works.
Last tip. Another thing that can add a quite touch to your blog is a tagline that will embody the totality of your whole blog. Make sure it's resembles your main goal.
