Today, November 16th, is National Fast Food Day.
The concept of fast food became popular in the 1950s in the United States. The name means exactly what it says on the tin - it's food that is fast.
Although almost any food that doesn't take long to prepare can be considered to be fast, the term is used to describe food that is sold in a restaurant and is pre-packaged in a form suitable to eat off the premises, often with a drive through to make it easier.
Fast food is frequently condemned for it being unhealthy and, indeed, it often isn't good for you. One problem is that far too many people have far too many fast food days. The occasional one isn't a problem. Indulge yourself today, eat better tomorrow - just make sure tomorrow comes.
