Why do we become addicted to these reality shows? What makes them appealing to the public? The answer is simple. We can relate to the participants. We enjoy the unscripted reality shows that allow us to see into the lives of others and watch their struggles and challenges they face.
In my first blog post, I am going to write about my favorite show in Poland. This program breaks records of popularity. It has an extremely high fun factor and provides excellent entertainment.
"Taniec z Gwiazdami"
What is Taniec z Gwiazdami?
Taniec z Gwiazdami is a Polish iteration of the world-acclaimed TV show Dancing with the Stars. It became successful and well-known competition wherein all the big stars and celebrities came into contact for the first time in their lives and were paired with professional dancers. Each week, participants compete by performing one or more choreographed routines that are pertinent and follow the chosen theme for that particular weeks' prearranged theme. Couples are expected to physical fitness, sense of rhythm, ability to learn fast steps and able to adopt different styles and techniques.
When did Taniec z Gwiazdami begin?
The series premiered on April 17, 2005 on TVN with over 7 million viewers. It was later revived in 2014, airing on the cable television network Polsat from 20:06 to 22:00.
How is Taniec z Gwiazdami judged?
The performances are judged by four jurors and the viewers. Every week, each pair competes, striving to impress the judges and earn the huge audience's sympathy. Viewers are given a certain amount of time to vote for their favorite dancers. The couple with the lowest combined score provided by the judges and viewers has to leave the competition. This process continues until there are only two couples left; when they have competed for the last time one couple is declared the champion.
