When I married the daughter of a small-town Texas football coach, I had to learn a thing or two about football. Over the years, I’ve become something of a convert to the sport, and I’ve come to appreciate that the pleasures of game day are all about tradition.
I’ve also learned a thing or two about creating crowd-pleasing spreads for game day. In my experience, it’s important to respect football’s culinary traditions. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t put a healthy twist on your crew’s faves.

Kick Off with a Meal
Halftime Snacks
Once you’ve whipped up some of these delicious dips, don’t forget healthy dippers! Think raw veggies, whole-wheat pita wedges, whole grain crackers or baked tortilla chips.
Touchdown Treat
At the end of the day, whether you’re celebrating a victory or mourning a loss, guests will be glad when you pass around a plate of easy-to-make Lemon Treats or Pumpkin-Peanut Butter Cocoa Cookies.
