1. Red Tide
Looks like someone dumped barrels of tomato soup into the ocean, doesn’t it? In reality, it is a marvel caused by algal bloom, aquatic microorganisms.
2. Cano Cristales (The River of Five Colors)
Located in Colombia, this river for a brief period of the year offers such a brilliant show of colors. The cause of the colors is a unique plant (Macarenio clavigera) which lines the river floor; it turns to a profound shade of red. When the water level is just right, the plant is offset by the yellow and green sand and the water itself, the river is mesmerizing.
3. Luminescence Beaches
It is real. The neon blue water is a result of a natural phenomenon, bio-luminescence. It occurs when microscopic organisms react to the oxygen in the water. This unusual, rare shoreline occurrence is from the beaches of Maldives.
4. Sun Dogs
This beautiful halo created by light interacting with ice crystals found in the atmosphere. Where the sun is the center, and two patches of light will appear on either side.
5. Frost Flowers
These beautiful flowers are formed when thin layers of ice come off long stemmed plants in early winter or autumn in the Ozark Mountains of the USA.
6. Volcanic Lightning
This display of power was a result of a weather phenomenon when lightning occurred in the plume of a volcano.
7. Spotted Lake
Located in Canada, this polka dot lake is displaying its dense deposits of minerals.
8. Geyser Eruption
An Icelandic geyser caught just before its eruption.
9. Great Sphinx
Not Eygpt. This marvelous nature rock formation is along the Makran Highway in Pakistan.
10. Danxia Landforms
Beautiful sloping rock formation hills in the country of China. Caused by millions of years of sandstone and mineral deposits.
11. Frozen Methane Bubbles
Occurs during the winter, when the dead organic matter consumed by microbes on the bottom of the lake rises. With temperatures below freezing the bubble freezes as it nears the surface. These are from Abraham Lake in Canada.
12. Princess Hope
Named by Angelina Jolie, this incredible rock formation is in southern Pakistan.
13. Everlasting Storm
This storm occurs in the same spot, 200-300 days a year and displays its raw beauty up to 10 hours each time. The spot is the mouth of the Catatumbo River in Venezuela where it feeds Lake Maracaibo.
14. Striped Icebergs
Caused when an ice sheet slides downhill and picks up sediments along the way.
15. Asperatus Clouds
Caused by shear winds that cause waves in the atmosphere.
16. Lake Baikal
Frozen transparent ice on the surface that gives off a hue of turquoise.

A natural phenomenon that is a result of algae living in the water.

Located in the Zhangjiajie in Hunan Province of China.
19. Rainbow Eucalyptus
Only eucalyptus that has a multi-hued bark. It can be found in New Guinea, Seram and Mindanao.
20. Hilier Lake
This amazing bubble gum pink lake can be found in Western Australia on Middle Island. The color is caused by the algae found in the water.
