A case has been filed against 22 people in connection with the killing of Mehedi Hasan Badal, a leader Chittagong city unit Jubo League, youth front of the ruling Awami League.
Mobashira Mishu, wife of Badal, filed the case with Bayezid police station at around 10:30pm on Thursday, said Nurul Akter, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the police station.
Saddam Hossain has been made the prime accused in the case while the name of Shafiqul Islam Shafique, a Dubai expatriate, was included in the case as a mastermind behind the killing.
Earlier, Mehedi Hasan Badal, 40, a local leader of Jubo League, was gunned down by miscreants in front of his residence at Shershah Colony in Panchlaish under Bayezid police station of Chittagong city at around 10:00pm on Tuesday.
He had had joined Jubo League after resigning as president of Panchlaish unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of Awami League.
Mehedi was a follower of Chittagong city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and he was wanted in several cases.
