These are the foods that can slow you down from reaching your weight loss goals, and the best thing to do is to avoid them completely or restrict them carefully as much as possible.
An essential aspect of being successful in your efforts to lose weight is,
you should feel free to enjoy the foods you love to eat, but with lesser quantities.
Unfortunately, the problem is that many of the foods we love contain these ingredients, and this makes it quite hard to avoid them all together.
(1) Sugar
Sugar is a very bad substance when you are trying to lose weight, especially white sugar. This is to be avoided as much as possible.

Why is sugar bad? There are many reasons. One of them is that it contains a lot of calories and it has no essential nutrients. Do you know that one hundred(100) grams of sugar contain 378 calories? To make it more understandable for our daily usage: one(1) teaspoon of sugar contains 16 calories, and one(1) tablespoon (which equals 3 teaspoons) contains 48 calories, with all the calories coming from carbohydrates[1]. It also causes tooth decay by feeding the harmful bacteria in the mouth.
While it is unrealistic to expect you never eat anything that contains sugar again, you should try to avoid them as much as you can. Or at least, try to minimize the amount of sugar you take every day. There are many ways to lessen added sugar in your diet. For example, drinking water is a better choice than sugary drinks like soda and juices.
It is believed that sugar is the major instigator of diabetes because it causes your blood sugar levels to rise fast. This then leads to an overproduction of insulin. When your body has too much insulin, it causes your cells hold on to fat. The extra calories that you consume from sugar can also cause your liver to create excess fat as well. Consequently, this makes losing weight very difficult.
Be aware that sugar is not only found in cakes, cookies, sweets, and soft drinks. It can also be found in sauces, cereal, gravies, salad dressings and even bread!
(2) Whitе Flоur
White flour can also raise your blood sugar levels rapidly. We all know that white flour is used in most baked products and also in many sauces as a thickener.

Because white flour is used in different products, it can be tough to avoid it all together. If you love eating baked products, then it will be impossible to cut it out completely. If you really can’t cut it out from your diet, then at least you should cut down on your consumption and try to eat whole grain products whenever possible.
(3) Pоtаtоеѕ
I love potatoes! They are one of my favorite foods. Unfortunately, they can also raise your blood sugar levels. This is because they are very high in bad carbohydrates, the kind that raises your blood sugar quickly.

One would think that sweet potatoes would be worse because of their sweetness. However, they don’t seem to have such an extreme effect on blood sugar levels.
So if you want to eat potatoes, then try and have sweet potatoes instead. Because they are high in vitamins while potatoes have very little nutritional value.

(4) Whitе Riсе
Many people seem to assume that because most Asian seem skinny and healthy, so white rice must be good for you. What do you think?

Well, most Asian are thinner and healthier because they exercise more than Western people. They consume less rubbish food and have more robust food such seafood.
In fact, white rice is another major cause of blood sugar spikes. When possible, instead of eating white rice, you can eat brown rice, or wholemeal bread, or oats as alternatives. Research says that brown rice will not spike your blood sugar the same way as white rice dut to its fiber, which is left on the outside of the rice seems to mitigate the blood sugar spikes. Higher fiber foods won’t cause blood sugar spikes the same way as their refined counterparts.
(5) Sоdа
"It is estimated that we Americans consume about 15 gallons of soda every year, and an average glass of soda contains roughly 17 teaspoons of sugar. This excessive consumption of sugar in soda is one of the reasons why recent government based statistics have revealed that 32.2% of adults Americans and 17.1% of young American ones are obese." [2]

Drinking too much soda can cause overweight. When you drink lots of soda, you are just loading to your body a bunch of sugar which is really bad for your body.
If you really cannot cut off soda totally, then restrain your consumption to a minimum. Like I said earlier, there are many ways to lessen added sugar in your diet. You just have to make your decision. Drinking water is a better choice than sugary drinks like soda and juices.
