1. Duck Tape
Seriously this stuff does it all! You might wonder what you could possibly need duct tape for, but you would be surprised at all the ways it can save your hide when you're in the mountains. In a pinch you can even use it to cover a wound...or if you have a chatty friend who won't shut up? Bingo! Plus it now comes in pretty colors so you can make it your own.

2. Learn Your Leaves!
This may sound like a lot of work, but can come in really handy when you're out communing with mother nature. Not only will you know which ones to avoid (hello poison ivy) but you will know which ones to grab in an emergency situation. The mullein plant, for example, has leaves that make excellent insoles and toilet paper!

3. The Diva Cup
I know a lot of women are still unsure about this little gadget but dang is it helpful when you are out in the wild. You only have to carry one, there's no garbage and no waste. Just empty it from time to time and riding the crimson wave will never ruin another camping trip!
4. Bring a Flask of Alcohol for Lighting a Fire
A hidden flask allows you to carry a wilderness essential–liquor. If you choose a high enough proof, you can use it to start a fire in a pinch...or just drink it. Alcohol warms from the inside out after all!

5. Learn How To Make A Lantern
Remember the headlamp I mentioned earlier? It can be used to make a lantern if you don't have a flashlight! Just point it inwards on a bottle of water and poof! Let there be light!

6. Get a Two Person Sleeping Bag
Another great way to stay warm? Invite a mountain man into your bed! Kidding aside, body heat is a great source of warmth and you can have some mountain fun under the stars.
