The 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards was a starstruck evening celebrating the films of 2015 with some Bollywood heavyweights.
Celebrities graced the red carpet in their stunning designer wear hoping to score big and take the prestigious black lady home.
But it was the Bajirao Mastani camp that won big on the night.
Nominated for eight awards, they cleaned up with ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Actor’ for Ranveer Singh, ‘Best Actress’ for Deepika Padukone and ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ for Priyanka Chopra.
The magnum opus sees Sanjay Leela Bhansali at his directorial best, and 2015 was most definitely the year for powerhouse couple, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
It was certainly a good evening for Deepika, who enjoyed not only the success of Bajirao Mastani, but her other 2015 release, Piku, which won the Critics Filmfare award for ‘Best Film’.
Her co-star, the veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan won ‘Best Actor (Critics)’ for the same film, while last year’s ‘Best Actress’ winner, Kangana Ranaut picked up ‘Best Actress (Critics)’ for Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
Salman Khan also saw his film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, take the award for ‘Best Story’, and Ankit Tiwari, Meet Bros. Anjjan and Amaal Mallik took the ‘Best Music’ award for their work on Roy.
Another big winner was the quirky romantic comedy, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, which won ‘Best Cinematography’, and ‘Best Debut (Female)’ for actress, Bhumi Pednekar.
