7 killed in Comilla bomb attack

At least seven people died and 16 others sustained burn injuries as miscreants hurled petrol bomb at a bus in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla early Tuesday.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Police and local people said miscreants hurled petrol bomb at a Dhaka-bound Icon Paribanhan bus from Cox's Bazar when it reached Jogmahan area of the upazila at about 3:30am. Seven people were burnt to death on the spot and 16 others injured in the attack.

The injured were admitted to Chauddagram upazila health complex then to Comilla Medical College Hospital burn unit, the sources added.

Of them, five were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Chauddagram police officer-in-charge Uttam Chakrabarty confirmed the news, saying they were trying to detain the miscreants.
