So, what's with these onions and dramas? They both generate tears. And what about it? We get emotional to it.
Once again the common thing with these two subjects are tears. We will cry in either way. But what make onions sadder than dramas? Hmm.
Onion (Allium cepa) is an aromatic flavorful spice which is used commonly in cooking. As you might noticed, when we chop an onion, tears form in our eyes. Why would this thing happen? It is because when we cut it, we break the cells of the onion and it releases a gas. This release contains Propanethiol S-oxide (the gas), and when this gas mixed with onion's enzymes, it will produce sulfuric acid in a gas form. Sulfuric acid will get into our eyes, irritates it, thus stimulating our eyes to release water, which is the tears, to washout the irritant. This is the reason why we can't stop crying when we start to chop onions. Even the toughest person can't prevent it.
On the other hand, drama in any form can make us cry too. But it is nothing like the onions. Other people may not be affected by the drama, but onions can move tears in all genders present.
