Despite of seeing women climbing the stairs of success and their elevation at the higher level like judges, in Ministry, Pakistan has not yet been able to terminate a barbarous and vicious ritual which was started by our ancestors, that defines a women noting but an article for possession and trading. There are many tradition in Pakistan which men used to demolish women and Vani is one of them,this tradition every year kills the dreams of thousands of girls in Pakistan.
Vani is a cultural ritual found in many rural area of Pakistan mostly in Punjab in which when a person do any crime Specially Murder or fight the jirga, a council or assembly of elder members of that area give the girls of that man family to the victims family as a bride. These girls are used as an article of trade to settle down the dispute between two families.
This is just a barbaric act due to which a women spend her whole life in misery. Vani is one of the oldest tradition practiced in Pakistan. According to some books it was first practiced by two Pashtun tribes of miawali which fought a war and about 800 people were massacred, at last the elder member decided to trade the women to settle the dispute. Actually word Vani also come from a Pashto word "vanay" which means blood. In many part of Pakistan Vani is also known as ‘Sak’, ‘Swara’ and ‘Sangchatti’. Every year more then thousands girls become the victim of this heinous tradition.
According to an estimate every year just in the rural area of Punjab three thousands girls became the victim of Vani tradition. These girls spend their whole life serving as a slave to the enemy family, men use them and throw them away the women of family look as them with venomous eyes and despise them. They are just the care taker of their animals and children are just born to serve them. And some times they are feed to the dogs. Not just grown girls baby girls are also becoming victim to this tradition. In 2006 a whole country was blaze with fury when Vani of one year old girl comes at the scenario of the world.
Last days a news channel interviewed seventeen year old girl who was requesting the government to save her from Vani tradition. According to her when she was two year old her father murder someone in land dispute the jirga decided to give me along with two other girls as Vani . Those two were young so they took them but for me they decided they will take me when i will young. Now as i am a grown lady they come to take me but i refused i have seen the life of Vani girls they are living worse then animals i don't want to go, my two cousins are in their families and they are treated as filth, they use them to take revenge the give them pain because their uncle kill their beloved one. My brothers are also against it but the other family is threatening us and they also attack my brother. This story really give me a goose bumps and sadden my heart. This is just one story no one knows how many girls become victims of this brutal tradition and end their life as lunatic.
