A twenty-five year old school teacher form Kansas was arrested last month for using Snapchat for soliciting sexual relationships with students. Married mother of three, Kourtnie A. Sanchez, was arrested in Eureka, Kansas, on charges which included unlawful sexual relations and three counts of promoting obscenity to a minor, amongst other charges.

The students caught up in the mess were said to be minors between the ages of fifteen and seventeen-years old. Sanchez’s charges included electronic solicitation, unlawful sexual relations, solicitation of unlawful sexual relations and three counts of promoting obscenity to a minor.

It was reported that Sanchez was a teacher at Marshall Elementary School in Eureka during the fall 2014 semester. The UK’s Daily Mail reported that the young woman was never officially employed by the district as she had been a student teacher through a college program. Despite this, she was still able to coach some junior high sports for the school over two years.

Sanchez is said to have coached junior high girls' volleyball and basketball, despite the fact that she was not a registered teacher and therefore not legally able to coach groups of minors. According to the Daily Mail, Sanchez left the school last December following an undisclosed incident.

Part of the charges brought up against Sanchez concerned the app Snapchat. Using the Snapchat, people are able to take photos or record videos, then add text and drawings, before sending them to a controlled list of recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as "Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long people can look at their Snaps (from 1 to 10 seconds) after which they will be hidden from the recipient and deleted from Snapchat's servers.

According to Snapchat, at mid-last year, those who used the app were collectively sending around 700 million Snaps a day. Not all as risqué as Ms Sanchez, it would appear.

Sanchez’s preliminary court hearing was meant to have taken place earlier this month on May 8^th but was postponed until next month, June 12^th. Greenwood County District Court’s records indicate that the charges relate to three boys, one aged fifteen and the other two seventeen. More specifically, Sanchez has been accused of electronic solicitation in relation to the fifteen-year old boy. In addition to this, she has also been accused of unlawful sexual relations with one of the seventeen-year olds, and solicitation of unlawful sexual relations with the other. On top of these charges, Sanchez also faces separate charges of promoting obscenity with all three youngsters.

The unlawful contact between the woman and the students took place last year, between May and September with the seventeen-year olds, and November to December with the other younger boy
