We don't need to travel too far in order to commune with nature. For me and my hubby, it is just a few minutes motorcycle ride from our home. After our short visit to the Cagsawa Ruins Park, my hubby brought me to Albay Park and Wildlife.
Come on my friends! Let's discover what's inside.

I decided to split this post into two (2) parts because I want to cover both the park and the areas designated for the birds and animals in the Wildlife. Since we are limited to having 10 images in one post, I deemed it necessary to discuss and show the animals in the zoo at my next blog post.
A Brief Description of Albay Park and Wildlife
Albay Park and Wildlife is situated in between the Ligñon Hill and the Legazpi City Airport in the beautiful City of Legazpi in the province of Albay. Just a few meters away from our home. This is the only zoo in Legazpi City with an area of approximately 5 hectares with a wide playground for children, covered sitting areas on the sides and a gazebo in the middle of a lagoon. A wide vehicle parking area can be found at the main entrance of the park which is big enough to accommodate at least 20 medium sized vehicles.

The place would always be included in the itineraries during educational tours being conducted by different schools in the region. Families would usually visit the place during weekends. According to the personnel in charge of the maintenance of the place, there are more or less five thousand (5,000) visitors during weekends that would come to the place.
Albay Park and Wildlife is under the management of the Provincial Government of Albay. The place is open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, except on Mondays. the entrance fee is Php50.00 ($1.00) and the parking fee is Php 10.00 ($0.20).
What to Expect.
Unlike other zoos that I visited before, Albay Park and Wildlife offers a different kind of experience to its guests and visitors. That was probably the reason why it was named Park and Wildlife because of the dual purpose it offers to the tourists.
I have reached the place in 2012 when we transferred here in the province of Albay for good. Looking at the place now, I noticed a big improvement in the area. One of the improvements was the general appearance of the place. They transferred all the animals to the elevated area at the back and the wide plain area near the entrance was now converted to a playground.

A giant dinosaur was built in the middle of the playground where children can play while the adults can have a seat on the covered sitting areas at the side.

Gazebo in the Middle of the Lagoon
Gazebo in the middle of the lagoon is the main focal point of the Albay Park and Wildlife. You could simply stay inside the place, watch other people while they are riding the boat and enjoy the beautiful sceneries. You can also enjoy watching the fishes that swim from different directions. I guess this is also a nice place to take prenuptial photos. Though I haven't seen this being offered when we entered the place. Unlike with that of the Sumlang Lake where they included prenup pictorials as one of their services.

The Wishing Well
At another portion of the park is a large plain area where the visitors could stay. Families from nearby towns would usually bring their own food and have a picnic under the big trees. In the same area was an old wishing well. I remember I threw out a coin during my first visit to this place several years ago. I wasn't writing or blogging that time yet. I don't remember what I wished for.

If you enjoy walking, here is an area where you can traverse and enjoy the flowers and the trees. This is a perfect place for having a walk while listening to the chirping of birds and sound of the trees. Walking is ideal especially in the afternoon when the weather is good. Benches are available just in case you get tired. Such a lovely place to visit when you want to have a break from the noise of the city. To think that it is just within the city itself.

Lovely flowers are everywhere. However, picking flowers is strictly prohibited. These yellow bells which surround the lake are so pretty and awesome.

On the final thought...
I am happy to have some break from work and find a time to visit several tourist destinations in our place. Albay has a lot of tourist destinations which you could visit in case you came to the place. Most of which, I haven't visited yet.
But I'll see to it that I could go to these places this summer. I would like to visit the Sunflower Farm in Ligao, Albay, the Kawa-Kawa Natural Park of the same place. I am also aiming to go to Hoyop-hoyopan Cave in Camalig, Albay. I know I have already been to that place when I was in high school but I couldn't remember how it looks like.
So, stay tuned for more blog posts regarding the different places in our province. Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!
