ABSTRACT
The study was designed to assess the effectiveness of video-assisted instruction as a strategy in teaching fourth year high school students. The respondents were the IV- Yakal of Balian National High School two groups from the said year and section were designed to be the controlled group and experimental group. The controlled group was taught the traditional way of teaching while the experimental group was taught with the use of video-assisted instruction as a strategy. The conceptual framework of the study was representation showing the effects of video-assisted instruction in the performance of the students in mathematics
The statististical descriptions, particularly mean, median, mode, skewness and kurtosis were used to analyze the achievement results in the pretests and posttests of the students in the both controlled and experimental groups. Into the bargain, independent t-test and paired/ correlated t-test of uncorrelated and correlated samples were similarly utilized to test the significant difference of the mean scores in the pretests and posttests of the students under the controlled and experimental group.
The findings of the study revealed that in the controlled group, the mean score of the posttest, which is 13, is higher than the mean score in the pretest which is 8.94 while the experimental group has a mean score in the posttest of 14.11 which is higher than its mean score in the pretest of 9.89.
