Men and women should receive equal treatment, and should not be discriminated against based on. The strategy to promote gender equality announced in the budget speech is certainly a tactical move. The issues will cater towards policy development, research, advocacy, legislation, resource allocation, planning, implementation and monitoring of programs and projects. The concept of bringing gender issues into the mainstream of society, a positive step towards an unbiased society.

Women from ages are looked down upon. They are in a very pathetic stage with issues orbiting their entire lifetime. The declining sex ratio in India amply portrays the discrimination shown towards women at the stage of birth. Women are harassment every day by their surroundings. Issues like girl drop out from schools due to lack of toilets and sanitation impact their health issue and safety. They are victims of crime directed specifically at them, rape, kidnapping and abduction, dowry-related crimes, molestation, sexual harassment, eve-teasing, etc. Married women in India are victims of domestic violence.

Gender equality ought to be implanted at the root level. To carry forward the campaign will kick start in various text books at school level will provide an idea about gender mainstreaming.  Better late than never, it’s time to change the perspective of the outlook on our beings.
