The other day we planned for a weekend dinner. The obvious choice of the ladies of the house was Chinese. But the male dominance proved here also an upper hand voted for Muglai cruise. After the tussle and the fight verbally, the males had settled down in a little bit of compromise. Let’s try out Afghan food, a new addition to our taste buds.
The favourite restaurant we usually flock in has come with a new addition of serving Afghan food by a specialized chef. The word of mouth already reached us that it is tempting and worth a try.
The Afghans prefer it neither too spicy nor too hot. A blend of a tasteful fusion from neighbouring areas like Pastuns , Tajiks and Uzbeks with a lot of influence of Indian cruise in relation to the use of different spices like saffron, coriander, cardamom and black pepper.
We tasted a whole range of different dishes like Qabli Pulao, the most popular dish in Afghanistan serves at special occasions like weddings. This steamed rice with chops of raisins and carrots, different kababs like lamb chops, Kormas, sorma and a variety of breads like nuns etc.
The food is a blend of what we are used to eating with Indian spices but with a difference that makes it more yummy and tempting.
