Jamie Nieto, Hight Jump Olympic athlete, was born in November 2nd, 1976. He arrived  4th - Olympic Games, Athens in 2004. 1st US Olympic Trials, 2012. 2nd- Olympic Trials,2008. 1st US Olympic Trials, 2004. Ranked among the top 10 US high jumpers since 1998. One of the few world class high jumpers to jump off his right leg. He is also a  budding actor, has appeared in five feature films.

Last Saturday, I had the chance to meet him in person at the New York Athletic Club where many Olympic athletes were invited to coach children. From my point of view, supporting athletes not only in their sports but by involving them in social activities would be a key for success.

Sport in Afghanistan is in the progressive state, The Afghan Sports Federation promotes many sports like cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, golf, track and field , and other sports. Right now Football and Cricket are the most popular sports in Afghanistan.

Doing sport is not just for men in Afghanistan, women are involved in some sports as well, like Tahmine kohestani  a springer girl in the London Olympic. We also have the  Afghanistan women national football team  which was formed in 2007 by the  Afghanistan National Olympic Committee with selected school girls.

Giving people the right education is a need in each society, but if we dream of a society which would train people spiritually, the other key would be sports.

Film Annex tries to support Afghanistan not only in education but also in sports. Esteqlal Football, the second ranked football team in Kabul Premier League, is supported by Film Annex.  Beside supporting the team financially, we also support them by using social media networking and providing them with a Facebook page and a Web TV channel.

Supporting Afghanistan in education and sports will bring a bright future for young Afghan girls and boys who want a peaceful country .
