Presidential elections in Afghanistan are due to happen in April,2014 that will decide new president for Afghanistan ending an era of Hamid Karzai that listed for more than 12 years started on  22 December 2001. After removal of Taliban back in 2001, he became dominant political figure throughout Afghanistan making him favorite candidate for president job.

Afghanistan has seen some good days and bad days during his long tenure as president of Afghanistan. Billion of dollars were invested in Afghanistan that created employment for people of Afghanistan.International fund poured in to Afghanistan and businesses flourished during his leadership.Those refugees in neighbor countries migrated back to Afghanistan after collapse of Taliban regime.Things started looking good initially but situation changed suddenly after few years.

Hamid Karzai had seen some bad days during his office days. He was attached on several occasions but he escaped assassination attempts.Violence increased in Afghanistan causing death of innocent civilians including women and children been victim of war.corruption increased during his leadership and many alleged his brother, Mahmood Karzai involvement in Kabul bank crisis and many claimed he supported his brother becoming wealthy by murky means.

During his leadership, peace talk started with Taliban and other groups bringing them on negotiation table. Deadlock came many times in peace process but negotiations are still on and he has directly involved himself in peace process.He tried to bring people from different ethnic backgrounds on same platform ending conflicts between people spread in different groups.

Afghanistan had good working relations with other countries and credit goes to him for being diplomatic. But since negotiations are going on between him and US president Barack Obama over bilateral security agreement, he has not signed an agreement yet.Many fears by not signing this agreement, Afghanistan will lose international support and militants will take over once again.

Elections are due to happen in few week and it is expected election will happen on time and he will leave office. His experience and popularity amongst different group will make him hot favorite once again and he will be assigned with an important task once again.
