The world has already welcomed new dawn as we are in 2014.New year started with major celebrations and fireworks in different cities with people out on roads to celebrate new year.2013 has passed away and it is now part of the past. 2013 has been the year of ups and downs for the world but as we are now in 2014, we are looking forward for great year for everyone.
2013 has been deadliest years in terms of civilian casualties. Since after withdrawal of international troops, attacks on civilians has increased by 23% in first six months of 2013 compare to 2012.Mounting casualties has re enforced fear among civilians and ability of Afghanistan army to tackle insurgents.According to report presented by human rights director for UN, women and children have been major victim of the attacks.
1. Indian consulate in Afghanistan attached by suicide bombers:
On 3rd august 2013, Indian consulate was attached by suicide bombers that took life of nine innocent civilians.Attack was carried out by three suicide bombers but they could not reach their target.Innocent civilians were killed and injured while consulate officials were safe and sound.Pakistan condemned attack on Indian consulate.
2. Afghanistan clinch victory by beating India in final of South Asian Football Federation Championship
Afghanistan shock India to win first major international football trophy.India were beaten by 2-0 in the final.Afghanistan after three decades of war were underestimated but they proved they have got talent and they can beat any team.Major celebrations were carried out in major cities of Afghanistan with youngsters dancing on roads in traditional way.
3. Afghanistan big leap in cricket qualifying for 2015 world cup
Afghanistan reached world cup for the first time in their history by beating Kenya. The remarkable journey started from refugee camps and in no time they reached this place. The victory was celebrated through out Afghanistan.They will be competing with international teams in upcoming world cup that will take place in Australia and NewZealand.
In 2013, there has been ups and downs for Afghanistan but lets hope 2014 has good news for Afghanistan.
