Is it safe to rent through Airbnb?
Airbnb try protect as much as possible both sides: and host and tourist. Anyone who is registering on the Airbnb must provide valid info about them self, same as if required to send to host valid ID and more info about them self. Airbnb ask ppl to communicate ONLY though their web site to avoid any chance for scammers to use their web site. It's highly recommended to book places which are marked as verified As well as before renting any place you can chat with host/tourist. Can check reviews about them from other ppl on profile of person who contacted you.

Airbnb provides as well phone number - you can call at any time and case: if you feel unsafe at the place you arrived or it's not same as it's was advertised.
Booking
Airbnb has 2 ways of booking:
- Instant booking
- Booking request and after discussion with host, reservation.
What mean "Instant booking" ? It's booking which doesn't need approval from host and will be booked automatically, as soon as guests will choose dates. Later on guests and hosts can discuss check in plans.
The second option mean that guest will place request as a first step, later on after approval by host will move on to payment and etc.

Payment
Guests will be charged at the time when booking request will be approved by host (or if it's Instant booking - same time). But by the mean time Airbnb will transfer guest payment to the host 24 hours after guest check in. Payment will be provided by the method guest choose before.
