Ajmal undergoes bowling test

CHENNAI: Suspended Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal was on Saturday put through an official ICC bowling test at the apex cricket body’s accredited laboratory here under the supervision of two technical experts from Dubai.

According to the Press Trust of India, apart from Ajmal, Bangladesh off-spinner Sohag Gazi, 23, also reported for testing on Saturday as per the International Cricket Council (ICC) instructions.

The 38-year-old Ajmal, who was suspended from bowling in international cricket last September, will be missing the upcoming World Cup because of suspension for illegal bowling action.

After the completion of the test, a source informed PTI that 350 shots each of the two suspended bowlers were taken and frame by frame those would be analysed.

“350 shots of the two bowlers were taken today,” the source revealed. The report is expected within 10 days.

Meanwhile, confusion prevails over the fate of Ajmal -- if he fails the official ICC test there is talk that he won’t be able to take a retest for the next 12 months.
