CHAPTER 8
Everyone grabbed a newspaper from every direction and the pedestrians walked on to their destinations reading the good news about the event and the carriage riders read with excitment as they were driven by horse drawn buggies to their stops. The lad's cream-brown hair as curly as a poodle and he dressed fully of an old Irish Peasant. He spoke with a deep and pleasant Irish accent; the jolly lad had a boy hood face and rosy cheeks and a wide grin that displayed a mouth full of well kept dental teeth. At this the grandest of all balls we mingled with the guest. The king and queen looked the marvelous of everyone. They stood at the front of the ballroom by the doorway and welcomed each of their guest for the evening including me, Charles, RUPAULA and Kate. We covered our index spider fang teeth with our warm smiles. We were careful as not to display them before the queen and king or any of the other guest beside ourselves, for we knew the devastation it would cause. We knew that everyone and everything would become terrible to us and we could not let it be, now nor ever.
We had made our way into Dublin Ireland and with precaution we blended in beautifully with the Irish. In their world we felt wonderful and the world of the Irish was so fabulous as our country in Nor Marie underneath theirs was a most elegant one. There was many things to see and crowds of people and much happenings in Dublin Ireland. It had been our dream, our destiny to live in the world among humans and to feel wanted, to be treated of importance with the very best, to dance along side the Irish as if we were one of them in the same because of our creator the spider Priest Pisces having created us in the same image and likeness as humans. It is having been created in the image and likeness of humans that helps to keep our dark secret of being spiders just that, a dark secret.
The first dance was the minuet and my date RUPAULA loved every minute of dancing it with me. Kate and Charles seemed only a slight bit delighted with the minuet themselves; they moved to the music as if they'd danced the minuet all of their lives. But we were no match for the dashing lady-in-red and her dance partner. The couple moved around the ballroom like pros and then they finally came to dance beside us. The lady was somewhat snobbish and nosy too, she took an interest in us immediately but she wondered after Kate TROMBICULA the most, and soon began to question Kate as we looked on, all the while we continued to dance. She said in such a brilliant Irish tongue.
"I must speak my say for I am very curious about you dear?" she peered closer. "You have the strangest set of teeth- they're dog teeth dear? Are you vampires?" the woman was very suspicious of Kate and me, Charles and RUPAULA.
She was a very keen watcher to have noticed our teeth, for surely we thought our tight smiles hid them well. I wondered had we slipped and revealed them a bit. For the music made us happy and come to think of it there must have been a grin on each of our parts that we didn't mean to reveal but we loved music with all our hearts, mind, and body for we had no soul and there wasn't an after life for us. We loved to dance and make love to music- the music brought us so much joy! I hoped the lady-in-red would not make trouble for us.
"Are you and your friends vampires dear?" she inquired right off and snobbish all the more.
"Oh no, not the least bit ma'am." Kate replied as if she was caught off by surprise by the question asked of her. Kate reponded again, grinning a grimace. "Their fangs but not the vampires fangs, for me and my friends are not drinkers of blood." Kate's smile was somewhat sly but at the same time serious. She went on to say the words that made her inquirers, the snobbish lady-in-red's skin crawl and quickly grow chill bumps. "What we are is AKAN'S dear." Kate TROMBICULA smiled dark; Kate and Charles WALCKENAER danced on past them.
"Oh goodness sake, AKANS..?! the lady in red laughed ridiculing Kate's words. "Well now, that's strange name name for anyone to have dear."
And sighing lightly Kate responded.
"Oh, but ma'dam, it's not just some strange name, AKAN is Anansi and Anansi simply, means, spider. We're spider ma'dam." Kate replied smirking sneaky.
"Oh my god, spiders!" the lady was completely baffled.
The lady in red smirked with ridiculness and then she crossed herself three times and covered her mouth with her pretty lace handkerchief as if she smelled something very foul. Kate and her date were already into their dancing again and had gone into the crowd of ballroom dancers, leaving the lady and her date behind them. The lady in red was led away through the crowd in a jiffy by her dance partner, and he also laughed at Kate's words; his mannerism was as if he'd made things seem ridicules. But they weren't this was real and Kate TROMBICULA and her friends are real spiders. The Irish couple had laughed it away as ridicules and danced away, whirling into the thickness of the crowd until they'd nearly swallowed them up, as if the funniest joke had just been said. They looked around them high and mighty. Kate and Charles talked of the most haunting matter.
chapter 9
"Have I ever told you about our great aunt Diana WALCKENAER darling Kate?" Charles WALCKEANER who was having himself along with his date and dance partner Kate TROMBICULA a whirl of a good time out on the ballroom dance floor at the summers ball blurted out questionably.
The snobbish lady in red and her dance partner had ceased their dancing and stood nearby the grand buffet table surrounded by friends chatting and in between they all sipped from tall, slim champagne glasses.
"No, but I would love for you to tell me about her." Kate TROMBICULA replied.
She was curious and Kate looked gorgeous and mighty tempting in a long, red-hot Victorian ball gown. Kate wore a short, black ruffled jacket made of soft, curtain material and a night-black spider hat and fancy black pearl barefoot sandals. Her date Charles wore a jaw-dropping jet-black tailor made tuexdo that made him look overly handsome and a pair of shiny black leather sunday shoes that matched his tuexdo. The couple was absolutely stunning. They were center fold attention getters. RUPAULA and me wore all white. RUPAULA wore a sassy, cream-white Victorian ball gown and a cute white spider hat with feathers sticking out of it and I had on a white tuexdo and a white top hat similar to that of a magician. Our shoes matched our white outfits that gave Kate and Charles outfits somewhat of a competiton. Charles WALCKENAER talked on somewhat proudly about their spider ancestor Aunt Diana WALCKENAER.
"She was the biggest spider that ever lived underneath the earth in Nor Marie. Well, aside from Stephen LATREILLE the goliath birdeater tarantula and another one of our great ancestors. He was a deadly ambusher and the second largest spider to aunt Diana WALCKENAER. Aunt Diana WALCKENAER had long, baby fine Auburn-red hair and a fancy face and the perfect set of boobs, a thin waist line any model would die for and eight, creepy, black widow spider legs." Charles WALCKENAER'S information was haunting.
"So tell me Charles, did Aunt Diana WALCKENAER bite?" Kate inquired blushing girlish.
"No, but she would scratch your eyeballs out and break your neck..." Charles seemed as if he suddenly became a bit disgusted and then he went on to say. "And she ate her mate immediately once she became tired of him." Charles told her this as if it were a warning. And then he said, "She was awful strong and moody too. You didn't want to cross paths with Aunt Diana WALCKENAER, at all darling." Charles sounded strange, and the look upon his face was quite a serious one, yet the two of them- the perfect ballroom dancers- continued to dance across the floor.
Charles twirled Kate around once, dipped her low to the floor and then brought her up again and returned to their dancing. Kate TROMBICULA was tickled with delight. She loved to dance and she had a deep love for music, especially opera.
"We're so lucky that we are more human than she was." Kate bragged.
Kate's Victorian ball gown dragged across the see through shiny lanoleum floor, they con tinued to dance to the Irish folklore music.
"Yes indeed Kate, yes Indeed." Charles smiled wicked and they danced on acting like the perfect married couple.
