Former club kid Michael Alig received online death threats and there was even a campaign to boycott his events around the city after he wanted to get back into the nightlife scene. According to Bouncer Chronicles the onetime kingpin of the New York City club scene served 17 years in jail for killing fellow club kid Angel Melendez.

In the late 80's and early 90's Alig ran a series of successful parties at various city nightclubs. Alig planned to bring in Steve Lewis, who was his original partner from the heyday at legendary clubs like The Tunnel, The Palladium and Club USA.
