Alu gosht is a very popular recipe in the subcontinent indo-pak region. Just the name of this dish works as an appetizer. It is very spicy dish and is very much common because it is a tradition to add potato in everything in this region. Today I am going to share this recipe. It is quite simple. In urdu ‘alu’ means potato and ‘gosht’ means meat. So their combination becomes alu-gosht or if translated then ‘meat-potatoes’.

The ingredients for alu gosht are the following;
Mutton one kilogram
Potatoes half kilogram
Turmeric powder
Red chili powder
Ginger
Garlic
Black pepper
Onion 2 to 3 pieces

First take some oil in a pan and fry the chopped onions in it till they get crispy brown. Take the fried onions out of the pan and grind them in a blender so that they remain invisible in the dish. Then put ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, pepper, red chili, onion paste made by grinding and the meat in the pan , put some water in it and leave it to cook until the water dries out. Then add some more water about 3 cups and leave to cook again. This will soften the meat. After the meat becomes tender add the potatoes and cook again until the potatoes become soft.
