American journey!

I'm in America!!

I have about a million topics that I'd love to blog about right now based on my experiences over here. It's something I've wanted to do for a really long time, but something I was resisting doing alone until now. Mainly because I have always believed that experiences are best shared!

However doing it alone was the most amazing thing I could have decided to do! So I thought, I would blog my experiences so far, and perhaps it would help someone else who also wants to travel!

Getting off the plane at LAX was probably the most nerve wracking point of my trip so far. I wasn't sure how I would get to my hotel from the airport and I was completely unfamiliar with the city, as even though I had been there before; I had always had someone with me who knew it really well!

However I carried on any way and tried not to let it phase me, and walked out of arrivals with my backpack weighing me down while some paparazzi flashed their cameras at a glamorous lady who was on my flight- no idea who she was.

After standing at the 'hotel shuttles' bus stop for a few moments I met an English swimmer who was over here for a swimming competition. He seemed like a really down to earth guy, but I think he was quite a big deal. I didn't catch his name!

He was looking for a shuttle to the Hilton hotel(!) and we had no idea how to summon one and stood there looking lost for a while, and then walked around the airport looking for clues. Eventually We worked it out as a team! And as we parted separate ways he wished me luck on my trip and I wished him luck in his competition. And that was my first experience in realising that yes, experiences are best shared... But they can always be shared with someone new! And nothing takes away from that!

It was a very small, and potentially insignificant event. But I've chosen to take that message as a little sign that I shouldn't worry so much about being alone in those experiences.

As I've been going along I have been filming plenty of my trip. However a lot of my focus has been the people! Rather then the sights and sounds, I've been really interested in how tourists and visitors have been reacting to these sites and sounds! And that is what I have tried to concentrate on as my theme for my travel film.

At the moment I am making my way from LA to NYC and am just over half way there, near Houston, Texas. I'll update you again very soon, but for now!

Stay happy ya'll!

p.s i can't work out how to add photos from my phone I'm afraid! So apologies for the lack of images!
