در مصاحبه‌ي كه خانم فرشته فروغ با ميخايل سميت، رييس دانشگاه آمريكايي، در كابل داشت پيرامون اهميت اين دانشگاه در افغانستان بود.
آقاي ميخايل حدود چهار سال مي‌شود كه به حيث رييس اين دانشگاه در كابل ايفاي وظيفه مي‌نمايد.
او مي‌گويد كه دانشگاه آمريكايي ها در كابل بر مبناي خواسته هاي دانجويان افغان ساخته شده است و از چهار سال به اين طرف به تعداد دختر ها هم در اين دانشگاه افزوده شده است. علاقه‌مندان اين دانشگاه به اين باورند كه با بدست آوردن مدارك تحصيلي از اين دانشگاه، آن‌ها مي‌توانند بهتر به كشور شان خدمت كنند.
هم اكنون بيش از 30 در صد از دانشجويان اين دانشگاه را دختران تشكيل ميدهد، دختراني‌كه تا دوازده سال پيش حتي اجازه رفتن به بيرون از منزل هاي شان‌را هم نداشتند.
از يك‌طرف ايجاد اين دانشگاه در افغانستانان نشان دهنده‌ي بلند رفتن سطح تحصيلي افغانستان را نشان ميدهد و اين را نشان ميدهد كه افغانها آهسته آسته به‍‌سوي دموكراسي واقعيي روان هستند و خود افغانها كشور شان را با بدست آوردن درجه هاي تحصيلي در زمينه هاي مختلف خواهند ساخت.
The interview that Freshta Frough had with Michail Smith was about American University of Afghanistan in Kabul. He was talking about the importance of this University in Afghanistan.
It is going to be Four years that Michail Smith is the president of American University of Afghanistan in Kabul.
He says that Afghan American University is established in Afghanistan based on the strong willingness of Afghan students. Since the last four years the number of girls have increased to 30 percent in American University of Afghanistan. The ones who are interested in this University in Afghanistan believes that they serve better their country by studying and receiving their Certificates in different fields from American University of Afghanistan.
At the moment, more than 30 percentage of this University’s students are girls. The girls who had no right to go out of their houses.
On the other hand, creating of such American University in Afghanistan show that the level of Afghan education is improved. As well as it shows that now Afghans are moving towards the real democracy and they themselves build their country through the education they receive in different fields.
