TOKYO - All Nippon Airways Co. said Wednesday it will team up with Philippine Airlines in code-share and frequent flyer program operations for flights between Japan and the Philippines.
Subject to government approvals, ANA, a unit of ANA Holdings Inc., and Philippine Airlines, which operates under PAL Holdings Inc., will start the joint operations later this month, ANA said in a press release.
The deal follows the opening of new landing slots at Haneda airport in Tokyo in March that increased the number of their flights between the two countries.
A combined 74 flights a week will be available to customers once they begin code-share operations Oct. 26.
The tie-up will enable passengers flying between the two nations to take advantage of through check-in that will reduce minimum connection times at Manila airport by 30 minutes to 90 minutes when connecting to onward domestic flights, ANA said.
