I used to try to make films and work on my on audiovisual projects, but there´s another thing that i love to do, "Animation workshops" for community. Sometimes i made this projects alone, other times with a little team, sometimes with money and other times just for free.
There´s lot of topics to work in a workshop of animation, everyone thinks that the most important thing is to "animate" and make a movie, well, that is an important part of the work, but now i´m going to reveal you what I do, and what i like to show to my students, even if they are kids, school teachers, artist, teens or old people.
I always start giving a little review of my animation work, and also of another national or international friends, to explain to the people the odds of this kind of work and also the doors that filmmaking open for you as a real chance to travel around the globe, but more important to say what you want to say, and show what you want to show, without censorship. Then we talk about the process, we see some making of, and then we start to make puppets, models, prepare a story board and then we shoot. This is one part, now let´s go for the important theme!
The workshops used to have one week long, sometimes one month. During working days, for me, the most important thing is to show the participants that there is a world of possibilities that are beyond what they know, this has nothing to do with developing future animation "stop motion" filmmakers. The important thing is to create the idea that the child or adults are able to do things just with a little bit of study and practice. And on the other hand, and also an important point is to generate interest in cultural and artistic manifestations, whatever the area will be (music, theater, dance, opera), in an effort to generate or provide a little bit in the generation of audiences in a third world country as Chile.
In my Flimannex channel you can visit some of the works that we made in different towns and villages along Chile in the last years, I hope that you enjoy them!!!
