Today my blog is about archaeological treasure. In this blog i will discuss about archaeological treasures which are in Pakistan.
Fortunately Pakistan is beloved with the richest archaeological sites having unique treasure of the world of antiquity. In the past they were neglected but now they are being attention and work on them is steadily going on.
The best known these sites are TAXILA,MOHENJO-DARO,HARAPPA,KOT DIJI,BHANBORE,BRAHMANABAD,MIRPURKHAS,THATTA AND LAHORE.All these sights contribute to the worlds antiquity in a very striking way.
The main archaeological treasure of Pakistan is TAXILA.The basic importance of Taxila lies in the fact that it was the centre of BUDHIST ARCHAEOLOGY.Along with its another aspect of its splender fame is its association with ALEXADER AND ASHOKA.It yields rich monoments that clearly reveal that it used to be the seat of a great university in sub-continent in past years.Discoveries at Taxila show the unique art of Gandhara which is aid to be the matchless fusion of BUDHIST art wit MEDITERRANEAN influences.
The next importance is given to the MOHENJO-DARO.One of the most important aspect of discovery of MOHENJO-DARO is it confirms that before ARYAN invaders it had already a well established civilization in INDUS VALLEY REGION.Not only this but four other ethnic groups used to rule over there named as ALPINE,MONGOL,PROTO-AUSTRALOID and the one belong the MEDITERRANEAN CLASSIFICATION.
Another comparatively recent discovery is that of Harappa,on SAHIWAL.Here some seals were found by an archaeologist.JOHN MARSHAL was interested in harappa. However no good result were shown but he carried on the work under his own direction.
BHANBORE is also a historical place. The people are very interested in BHANBORE. BHANBORE is at the distance of about forty miles from Karachi and it is the site on one of the silted channels of the INDUS.The basic archaeological interest of this place lies in the possibility that it may be that particular site of Debul where MUHAMMAD BIN QASIM landed in the year of 712.although monuments found over there have confirmed to some extent that this site can aad matchless treasure to the ARCHAEOLOGY OF PAKISTAN.It can be hoped that this site yields a good deal.
Moghal period was the most prosperous and flourishing period of MUSLIM EMPIRE which unfortunately faced decline due to the irresponsible successors. The Moghal kings had great sence of architecture.Archaeological treasures of that era like BADSHAHI MOSQUE,LAHORE FORT,SHALIMAR GARDEN and the TOMB of ANARKALI are the well preserved and easily accessable. The reason of this preservation is comparative nearness of that dynasty to this modern era.The splended places, gardens and tombs show the great skill of architects, craft people, mesons and carvers.there is free use of animals and human forms which attract the explorers all over the world.
