I know I know, every generation continues to say the same thing that the generation after them is this or that but I honestly continue to wonder...are kids growing up too fast? I was watching the today show today and they were discussing the new sketchers shape up ads that have been running on kids networks targeting young girls and how they need to them to stay in shape and how it helps to round their butt. Umm, do little girls really need to do that? Or other adult type clothing advertisements targeted at little girls making them think they need to look or act a certain way at 7 years old. I was also at a five year old's birthday party recently and one of the kids (2 years old) had her own iPhone. Umm, who is she calling?? I think with the overload of media these kids have no choice but to grow up quick as they are exposed to so many different types of things to buy and ways to act. I think its the parent's job to make sure there is a balance of childhood and the reality that is facing this next generation. You can't keep you kid locked away from media of course. I am not a parent but hopefully I will be one in the future. I know I won't be perfect but I hope I will be able to find that balance between giving my children freedom to express who they are but also making sure they grow up at a normal pace! xx Love Mania
