Terracotta art was one of the earliest forms of art. Terracotta figures remind us of the harappan ruins. It was used to make figurines, sculptures and plaques. In Bengal and odisha, terracotta or brickwork is seen in many places. This form was practiced in Bengal through early medieval to modern times.
Coins, paintings and sculptures are also an interesting part of our heritage. Old coins were made of gold or silver and carved with a king's name or symbol. Some of the earliest gold coins are from the gupta period.
We have a rich heritage. We need to create more awareness about preserving our heritage. For that we need to feel proud of these treasures and take care of them so that the future generations can have the opportunity to see them.
