Trans-humanism - The Future Of Mankind
Do you need an upgrade? Welcome to the world of trans-humanism. A world in which you don’t need to fix a defective part in your body but just upgrade it into a machine, to be able to make it do much more than it is biologically or intellectually possible.
The way AI has made inroads into our lives in ways unthought off hitherto. It took decades for people to own a radio but today gadgets powered by AI that come in different shapes and sizes are welcome with open arms. That is the magic of AI. ‘Making life better’ is the mantra around which the world revolves today.
AI generates data, processes, analyses and comes up with answers to human problems in no time at all. In this scenario it is not only easy to believe that AI makes life better but AI has all the answers to human ills.
We have entered into the age of trans-humanism, where aging and death are not considered as normal or ethical anymore. We believe that we need to live longer and better. 70-80 years doesn’t seem to be enough for us humans anymore.

What Is Trans-humanism?
It is an international philosophical movement that promotes the transformation of the human body by developing and making widely available sophisticated technologies to enhance our abilities both physical and intellectual.
Trans-humanism is based on the premise that the human race can evolve beyond its current state. It does not believe so much in augmentation of the physical state as in upgrading the current human state by means of science and technology.
Why waste time on spectacles or lenses for eyes when you could just replace the eye with a camera? It wouldn’t just be better than normal sight but it would be notches higher in function than what the normal eye can do. Do you see where we are going?
This is not sci fi anymore, this is the present-day reality. Humanity+ is the world's largest trans-humanist organization which advocates the ‘ethical’ use of technology and evidence-based science for radical life extension.
If we want to live in paradise, we will have to engineer it ourselves. How Is Trans-humanism Possible?
Trans-humanism is possible because of neuroplasticity. It is the ability of the neurons in our brain to make new connections and reconfigure its network in response to new stimuli, information, trauma, or dysfunction. If we could swap the camera for an eye, the brain after some initially confusion figures out a way to interpret the new signals it receives.
The capacity of the brain to convert external stimuli to electrical signals that the brain then processes into our sensory perception of the world around us. The electrical signals traveling through our nervous system are not too different from natural stimuli . The only difference lies in how the brain processes the. This opens the doors for a whole spectrum of changes that can be done to the human body.
Take it one step further and you have humans turn into digital data. Let me explain this concept a little further, today it is possible to store our emotions and memories in digital form. You can feed your brain into a computer and live forever in the digital form.

Why Trans-humanism?
Well for one your quality of life will improve. You can have superhuman capabilities. You could fly over the traffic with you AI wings, you could live underwater if you so desire or just live normally in Mars like it was no different from the Earth. You could send messages telepathically and probably connect with anyone anywhere with no extra device. I am not exaggerating , this is what the proponents of trans-humanism H+ have in mind.
On the face of it this does seem like the stuff dreams are made of (or maybe movies are made of). However, it is important to remember that through all these changes we would be changed forever and beyond recognition. The human era as we know it will come to an end.

Effects Of Trans-humanism
Our unending tampering with nature and her resources has us tottering on the brink of disaster. Water is running out and so are the natural resources like coal, natural gas and such. Our forests have made way for the human development and our eco-system has been pushed into the edge of imbalance.
We have never understood fully how our brain works and yet we want to teach machine to think, reason, act and emote like humans without understanding the consequences.
Now we want to tamper with our DNA and the natural systems of the body. Can our human genome lend itself to such radical experimentation without negative repercussions? What about the ethical social and existential problems that come along with such experimentation?
Humans have always been a power crazy race, just imagine how the armies around the world would use such technology. They would use any method just to get upper hand over an enemy.
We would have on our hands an aging population, less resources and perhaps lack of space to inhabit that we will be buying tickets to Mars and the Moon.

Final Thoughts
There is no denying the fact that technology has made life better for us human in innumerable ways. While technological advances cannot be stopped, we need to let reason prevail and make the right choices.
That fact that AI has taken over every aspect of our everyday lives stealthily tells a lot about how technological advances are made. They happen based on the market forces and commercial interests of a few people in the world directs them.
We truly need to take charge of things as a race. We have been warned sufficiently that at some point AI will race past humans in speed and intelligence. That would surely hurt our survival, we need to call the stops here or at least put into place systems across the globe that discuss the ethical, social, and economical impact of these changes.
We are hurtling towards a future that could make our lives even better or fill it with disastrous consequences. The good of mankind needs to be at the heart of every decision made in this regard. We humans who claim to be rational people cannot afford to senselessly dive into chaos and hope to find perfect harmony in the future.
We need to ask ourselves one question – Is this the utopia we seek?
