As a filmmaker I want to be able to touch upon taboo subjects that really get people talking and thinking. I want to make people aware of things they are too scared or too protected from.

Over the past year I have drastically changed my belief system. I have explored the depths of religion and cults from across the globe, researched numerous philosophers and read 90% more then I was before. All of this has combined to create a new understanding of the world around me, and the world inside of myself. I was brought up a catholic and found it narrow minded to not look into other religions, and most importantly I found it narrow minded to only look at ‘positive’ religions, so I looked into things such as Satanism, and western black magic, such as the lesser and greater keys of King Solomon. This full range of lifestyles and views has developed my creativity and knowledge.

My main concerns as a filmmaker, is the idea that main stream cinema is dumbing down. They are just pouring out super hero movie after super hero movie, which are poorly executed and have no value to society at all. I really want to see more intelligent films hitting the big screens. The last films I saw that did that was love (2011) a social experiment to show humans the importance of others, and Perks of being a Wallflower (2012) a rollercoaster of a film that explores teenage life and elements of life that aren’t spoken about in films or general life. These films really challenge the audience in different ways and this is something I want to explore as a filmmaker.

A still from Perks of being a Wallflower.

A still from LOVE.

My aim as a filmmaker is to make a change, to actually educate people in what living actually means. My main influences are from filmmakers that are honest with their work and/or challenge their audiences such as Harmony Korine, and Shane Meadows. Shane Meadows makes honest films about what he sees and feels in everyday life, and that is something I really can relate to. Harmony Korine challenges the audience with ground-breaking films like Kids, and Gummo. Other influences are from Philosophers, Religions, and cultural life styles. I read a lot and this has had a strong influence over my work, and what I feel I am capable of creating and capturing on screen.
