The latest ATP tennis rankings have been published following the US Open, and Novak Djokovic remains world No.1, ahead of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka.
Marin Cilic won his first Grand Slam title on Monday night, recording a comprehensive straight-sets win over Kei Nishikori to win the 2014 US Open and moving up four places in the rankings.
Cilic became the first Croatian player to win a Slam since his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, at Wimbledon in 2001.
The 14th seed dominated at Flushing Meadows and dropped serve just once as he won 6-3 6-3 6-3 in one hour and 54 minutes.
His victory saw him move up to No. 12 in the latest ATP rankings.
“I don’t know how I did it,” said Cilic, who missed last year’s US Open as he served a ban for taking a prohibited stimulant.
“It was hard work over the last few years and especially this last year.
“My team has brought something to me, especially Goran.
“We’re all working really hard but the most important thing he brought to me was enjoying tennis, and always having fun. I think I played the best tennis of my life.”
Nishikori, Roberto Bautista Agut, Gael Monfils, Kevin Anderson and Feliciano Lopez are also climbers in this week’s Top 20.
