There was a panel of members to select the Player of the 2015 World Cup. The names under consideration were Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc, New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, his teammates Trent Boult and Martin Guptill, as well as Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara for his four consecutive centuries in the tournament. But following the sensational form of the Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc that helped guide his side to their fifth title in 11 tournaments, the 25-year-old fast bowler was the unanimous choice of the panel of members. His name was declared after the completion of the final match of the World Cup. Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who was the brand ambassador of the tournament, handed over the award to Mitchell Starc.
