BRISBANE: Australia has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate and India fast bowler Ishant Sharma was found guilty of breaching the ICC code of conduct during the Brisbane Test which Australia won by four wickets.
Match referee Jeff Crowe said in a statement Sunday that Australia captain Steven Smith's side was ruled to be three overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into account.
Smith was fined 60 per cent of his match fee and the players 30 per cent, with Smith facing a one-match ban if the same infraction happens again over the next year.
Sharma was fined 15 per cent of his match fee for “language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting”, after dismissing Smith during the first innings of the Test which ended Saturday.
