I had to skip blogging for a day because of two reasons: excitement for the Avengers: Infinity War movie and no blog topic idea. I admit, I was really bored yesterday and was just killing time so it would then be 9 pm and I can watch the new movie Avengers Infinity War. Today's blog will, of course, be regarding the movie.

My husband's company has this movie night where they treat their employees for free movie passes and they could also request for their partners, referred as plus one. James, of course, bought me a ticket too so we could watch the movie together at Ayala Center Cinemas. So, last night was a long night for us as we watched the movie together with his colleagues from 9:30 PM to 12:30 MN!

Although I have only watched some of the Marvel movies, I feel that this would be a good one. My colleague who's an Avenger fan had even taken a one-day vacation leave just so he could watch this on IMAX on its first showing day. So, I had huge expectation especially that Ironman will be in the movie. Before that, I had already read some people updating their social media accounts about spoilers and certain things which had occurred like a lot of the characters ending up dead at the end of the movie. I hoped it wasn't the case but if that would then be the ending, then I just hope Iron Man or Thor will be spared from the characters' death.

Thanos, the Mad Titan together with the Black Order came to Asgard to take the Space Stone from Loki, killing him while Thor watches. He is set to invade the Marvel Cinematic Universe and aims to have all infinity gems into his gauntlet, these gems have the power of Space, Mind, Reality, Power, Soul, and Time. He then demands that the Black Order takes the Mind and Time stone to him which were on Earth.

Hulk who was in Asgard got transported into Earth to inform the rest of the Avengers about Thanos, they met with Doctor Strange but thinking of their time was short as the Black Order arrived in search for the stones, the battle began instantly. Iron Man showed up his new suit and Doctor Strange being taken by Ebony Maw but ended up getting vacuumed into space with the help of Spiderman and Iron Man.

Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy found Thor unconscious but still alive in Asgard after Thanos destroyed it. After few talking, Thor, Groot and Rocket went to find Thor a new hammer, it almost cost Thor his life to get a new one but with the help of Groot and Eitri (played by Peter Dinklage, Tyrion Lannister of GOT). Groot had a very epic role in making the handle for the hammer (it was another emotional scene).

On the other hand, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, and Mantis came to meet Thanos in Knowhere. Gamora was taken by Thanos who was later on revealed as his adopted. He went to seek for the Soul Stone, which requires for his loved one's soul. An emotional Thanos gave Gamora in exchange for the gem and he acquired it successfully.

On Earth, Vision, and Scarlet while having a romantic walk in Scotland was haunted by Black Order, they were unsuccessful with the Captain America, Black Widow to the rescue. They sought for Black Panther's help to take the Mind Stone from his forehead.

Back in Titan, Thanos came back, mightier and madder whilst Doctor Strange together with the Avengers and the rest of the Guardians planned on beating him. They were on the verge of defeating him when Star-Lord made a mistake. The fight scene ended up with Tony Stark stabbed (I almost died!), Doctor Strange gave the Time Stone for Thanos to spare Iron Man's life.

While T'Challa opened Wakanda's Barrier, thousands if not millions of monsters went into and attach them. They fought back but were undermanned but still, they were winning, unfortunately, Shuri who was trying to get the stone out wasn't finished when Vision was attacked by the Black Order. Eventually, Thor came and helped erased those monsters. Thanos appeared at the Wakanda forest where he found Vision, Scarlet was successful in destroying the stone but since Thanos already has the Time stone, he was able to revert time and still had a hand of the last one, the Mind Stone.

One at a time, each hero started turning into ashes. Half of the Avengers were dissolved, the power of the Infinity Stones was at play with Thanos' every snap.

My Personal Review of Avengers: Infinity War

Perhaps if I would be pointing out my favorite parts of the movie that would be the emotional scenes, that time when Thanos cried before throwing Gamora into the pit, then the scene where he almost killed Iron Man and the part where Thanos was in the Banaue Rice Terraces in the Philippines, watching the sunset as what he had been looking forward after all the stones were collected! And I won't forget that Groot making the handle for Thor's new hammer, it was another punching moment too!

But there were also battle scenes which were really amazing such as the Wakanda fights which kindly reminded me of the Game of Throne's epic battle where Daenerys the Dragon Queen rides into battle against the main Lannister army on Season 7 episode 4, well except that they didn't have dragon but for some reason, the scene was very similar. That was dubbed the Wakanda Run which was somehow the end of Wakanda.

In the Philippines, the movie has now been hailed as the highest grossing film on opening day and biggest single-day gross box office for any film in the country. P141.6 million (USD 2.7 million) in the Philippines on its opening day, according to Walt Disney Philippines.  - cnnphilippines

So, is the movie a big hit? Yes is an understatement, for me, who is not a really avid fan of the MCU series and whom never had really read the comic books, I find the movie epic! It has humor, packed with actions, drama and emotions were there and the cinematic and visual effects are just outstanding! I had to be still and quiet but also laugh at several jokes and hilarious lines coming out from the characters. Space, stellar and galaxy scenes were jaw-dropping, the mystery of each character is something one would like to know more and the power of the stones and its possible effect while with Thanos is one which viewers would like to know and watch in the next sequel.

For the record, I had only watched a couple of the characters' movies, the likes of Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Thor but the rest, I was not able to really connect the story. But what's so cool was that every piece came to be connected to each other and ending up in this one whole complicated battle against a mad Titan named Thanos. This makes me want to watch the other movies related to the Infinity War.

And then, the ending part was a cliffhanger, I had this "what had happened" look when one by one, each hero started disappearing, turning into a dead leaf vaporizing as they were being blown away by the wind. First was with Captain America's best friend, Bucky Barnes, Black Panther, Groot, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Mantis, Drax, Quill, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Maria Hill, and Nick Fury. I then realized it was what they have been talking all along about Thanos snapping his fingers when eliminating half of the Avengers.

As heroes turning into ashes, I had also thought, would it be dead like really dead or they were just put into a realm where they can not do anything at all and someone in the future can rescue them using the Soul Stone! That had me thinking, we'll see in the next sequel as the after credit scene showed Nick Fury sending a message to Captain Marvel, perhaps she'll be able to save them from this unfortunate events.
