A Bangladeshi juvenile girl was rescued and two suspected traffickers were detained at West Bengal in India.
Local media published the news without mentioning the name of the girl, adding that one of the arrestees was Bangladeshi.
According to police, the arrested were Mohammad Saju of Bangladesh and Al Amin Molla of West Bengal. They are agents of women traffickers. Saju took the girl across the border to West Bengal illegally, promising her of a job in India.
She was kept at Al Amin’s place in North Chabbish Pargana district from where she was scheduled to be trafficked to Mumbai on Thursday. The police, on a tip off, rescued the girl at Sangram Bridge in Boardghat area under Basirhat police station, and arrested the men.
The juvenile girl was supposed to be sold for one lakh rupee at Mumbai, the agents said to police.
