The Topic I have chosen for my blog is "Beauty Standards." It is something that had made its place in our unconscious mind so strongly but it is not something talked about openly. This is what I feel like. Talking about beauty:
It is a measure of how much pleasure it is for our mind to see someone. That pleasure can be because of a good looking face, its shape, its complexion, its expressions or its some specific features. It can also be someone's gait or hairstyle, way of talking, dressing sense or one's self-representation.

Beauty has become a standard now a days, a standard on the scale of which one is judged. It is quite agreeable that everyone is beautiful in his/her own way but in today's modern world of tough competition, just being 'God gifted' is not gonna work. One has to work to furnish himself to be presented as its a race to compete each other. Obviously now 'The World is not Enough' at all. That is why everyone has to give his/her best to be in the 'Leader Board' either on bitLanders or in the world. The competition is going very high for the top ranks. Beauty is something that really matters. How? Lets have a look:
Psychological Impact of Beauty:
Psychologically speaking, our brains are well developed to judge people on the basis of their appearance. This can be exemplified by going through some psychological facts like
i. The first thing our mind notices subconsciously about someone we meet first time, is there shoes.
ii. According to a survey, men with clean shaved were preferred our those with beard or rough shaves in selection interviews regardless of their qualifications.
It is evident from the above given argument that we trust the people who look good as it shows how active fellows they are. Socially talking, when we see someone who looks good in some formal event, we wish to get closer to them. Psychologically we are willing to help them. In this way those who look good enjoy the benefit having more fan following, more friends and more personal links.
Linking it to professional life, those people are hired who are popular among people, whom people can feel comfortable with and who appear to be gentle and trust worthy. The first key for all this is a beauty or charm in your personality.

Need to be beautiful:
"Need to be Beautiful" is a bit confusing statement. You can't design yourself then how to BE beautiful? In this advance world, I've to say you design yourself and you can be beautiful. Most common ways that you do subconsciously is to adopt the style you find charming. People have to be conscious about their looks to enjoy a good position either at work or in social life. When you appear attractive, half of your work is done, It is because when you leave a good impact on people's mind, they ultimately become willing to be with you. Your consciousness about your looks show how active you are. The choice of stuff you put on on various occasions show your taste for different things, this is where we are judged. Everyone likes to be cool. While providing with crowd attraction, beauty also provides you the satisfaction that you're doing good as the crowd is attracted toward you. It is a need to be beautiful nowadays to boost your performance.

Beauty Standards:
Now lets talk about what people have standardized about beauty. Not only about others but also about themselves. There is something very popular and trending these days like ways to lose weight, to attain zero figure, to get your hair dyed in weird colors sometimes, absurd hairstyles to look different, going to gym to pump your muscles and all. All this hard work and expense is not for a healthy life style but to look handsome and beautiful.

Celebrities and Beauty Standards:
Celebrities are always in limelight. It is not only because they want to stay in but because viewers want them to. To stay in spotlight, celebs have to keep doing something which can keep people curious about them. That is why all these scandals related to celebs are usually the highlights of news. To stay in the heat of conversations, there must be some significant personality. To get that personality, ways like hours long works out in gyms, latest therapies, fashion trends, even though cosmetic surgeries are adopted. They have to do it because people idealize them. And people idealize them because of their personalities. Both these things are alternating fathers of each other. Another reason to idealize celebrities is it is much easier to be popular in your social circle by being like the person who is already much popular there. There is a variation in in which way you look like your favorite celebrity which is from getting a hairstyle like them from an expensive salon or by spending some money on purchasing clothes worn by them to having a cosmetic surgery to attain a figure like your idol by increasing or decreasing your size. There are some such die hard fans who even don't care that its not the real face of their favorite celeb but it is also the illusion of cosmetic surgery or make over.
Brands and Advertisement:
While watching people taking so much interest in beauty standards, a lot of brands have been launched in different fields of market that have become so successful to become Beauty Standards themselves. It is when you watch someone on screen no matter in some movies or TV shows, in a family program or some social event, everything is tagged with a brand from a nail paint or mascara to scent or a hair dye from a shoe to a suit. Those who are wearing them have also become Brands which are paid for using outlets of some companies. This is how these products are advertised and your minds are being played with by setting a complex in your mind i.e to look good you have to look like them. This all is the part of a business. In this way, for some people Beauty standards are a blessing to make more & more money while for some its a heavy dent on monthly expenses and to those people who don't afford any of previous stated group, its a source of depression to them. Yes . That's right! Can you imagine now how much a piece of glass can be effective if it is used as a mirror or a lens?

Beauty: A conflict:
The beauty-based judgment has advanced to such an extent that it can cause conflicts sometime major ones. Regardless of how nice a person is nature wise or how talented he/she is, if he doesn't seems good to your eyes, your mind is not at all going to pay any attention to him/her. This is a cause of injustice, a cause of wastage of talent and a cause of conflicts indeed. A very well known example of this is the behavior of people with white skin toward the people with a dull complexion. Although this matter have been solved very much since the awareness about it has aroused but it still does exit. This injustice leads the victims to a deprived state which ultimately lead people to hate. When this hatred gets enough space in hearts it can be destructive.Destructive in the way to give birth to disputes and crimes as it is all evident from the streets of US and Europe.

Beauty: A craze:
(Google)
News about a Japanese guy was out last days as he went under 20+ surgeries over 30 years to look like Superman. Superman is a well known fictitious character and definitely handsome enough to be adored. To look like him a poor guy not only spent a lot of money but also went under the tools to cut and get his face shaped according to his wish. This is ridiculous actually and cruel in a way too. Anyhow this is how crazy the generation is. Another thing frequently noticed in the present era is the complex people have in their minds. A good example would be of a pimple on face. If a teen gets a pimple on face (which is quite normal in that age and is due to hormonal changes) they'll choose to stay in until they get rid of that minute spot or if they have to go out they'll try each and everything available to hide that spot. This is what market is taking advantage of and selling their facewash gels and face creams, sun blocks etc like hot cakes.I mean its good to take care of yourself and your impression on others but why to panic over things which are normal?

Conclusion:
(Google)
I'd conclude the discussion above as we should admit that looking good is a need these days but there are other things that matter more than being like a Plastic doll. Beauty is something gifted by God. It can be attained artificially but it is not something worthy enough on which a lot of money. time and attention should be wasted.
