Tales of treasures have been told here and there in these parts of our country. Many have become wealthy from such finds. Yamashita became famous because of all the golds hidden everywhere.
I have read this news from the Manila Bulletin online page.
Click on the image above to take you to the details of the news. That cathedral is located in Bataan.
A grand son of a Japanese Imperial Army general named Matsumoto is aided by Jovit Sumile in finding Japanese gold here in the Philippines. According to the report, Sumile said that he and Matsumoto have already recovered two tons of gold in the town of Limay. Sumile was given a wristwatch, Nikon camera and a few cash as reward from that. Now, they are eyeing for the cow-size gold hidden under the St. Joseph Cathedral located in Balanga City, Bataan.
If indeed it is true that there is gold there, then the gold should be given to the Philippine government instead. Nay, since I don't trust the government, Matsumoto should be the Japanese Robin Hood and distribute the gold to the poor. I maybe daydreaming that such thing could happen but the Japanese have done damage to the Philippines during the war and shouldn't it be proper that they should give the gold as payment? Although no amount of gold could pay the damage they have caused.
Let the gold stay.
