Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif fulfilled the long cherished dream of a young cancer patient by meeting him in person in Karachi on Friday. Anwarullah Khan Afridi, a 17 year old student of FSc from Army Public School Karachi, desired to meet the Prime Minister. This wish of Afridi was granted and made possible by Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan.

Fate is not fortunate enough to some, for they are tested with trials that only those with brave hearts can endure. Similar is the situation of cancer struck people, who wish to do much more in life, but are limited by an unfortunate ailment. Make-A-Wish Foundation is an organization which provides a platform to fulfil one last wish. They have taken up the responsibility of adding some days of love and joy to the disheartened souls, motivating them to remain optimistic through all odds.

Nawaz Sharif

Anwarullah along with his father met Nawaz Sharif in Governor’s house. The meeting of Anwarullah with PM went smooth. Nawaz Sharif asked him about his health and hobbies. He also consoled the ailing teenager by saying that only Allah can convert the diseases into complete recovery. PM also asked Afridi if there was something he could do for him. To this the boy replied that his wish had already been granted, for he had met Malala and the Prime Minister himself. He also mentioned that Nawaz Sharif is his favourite leader and his aspiration to meet him had come true.

Make-A-Wish Foundation Pakistan is a non-profit organization which is an affiliate of a US based Make-A-Wish Foundation America (MAWFA). It’s website highlights the motto, “We grant the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”

Cancer is a battle between life and death where some lucky ones stay and live longer while others lose. Taking up the responsibility of fulfilling wishes of the children suffering from this dreadful ailment is inspirational as well as motivational. The Prime Minister after the meeting said that granting wishes of these children gives them a ray of hope while giving them the strength to fight against the disease. the PM further added:

Make-A-Wish compels us to exceed the expectations of every wishing kid and drives us to ensure that our attention has a far reaching impact.
