Blumea balsamifera
Blumea balsamifera is used as an herbal treatment for the common colds and used as a diuretic in Philippine medicine, where it is commonly called as Sambong. As a diuretic it is used as an herb to treat urinary tract infections and kidney stones. It is also effective to treat coughs and colds by making a tea out of the leaves. It is also sometimes used as an astringent for wounds, used also as an herbal medicine for rheumatism, anti-diarrhea, anti-spasms and hypertension.
It is approved by the Philippine Department of Health, Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care, and by the Bureau of Plant Industries of the Department of Agriculture.
