At 398 pounds including race ABS, this BMW superbike is capable of extraordinary acceleration feeding off its 998cc engine. Maximum output is 193 hp and 93 pounds-foot of torque, affording the S 1000 RR a controlled top speed of 190 mph.
Yet that’s what the bike maker says, washing its hands of one of the fastest road bikes in the world. A “lightly modified” version of the bike hit 203 mph recently in Maxton, North Carolina, which was the second time the S 1000 RR broke the 200 mph mark.
