OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut had to be helped off the court in the third quarter of Game 5 of the NBA Finals with an injured left knee.
Bogut suffered a sprained left knee and will have an MRI later Monday night, the Warriors announced.
Bogut was hurt about two minutes into the period Monday when Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith collided with him on a layup attempt. Bogut came down awkwardly on his left leg and then Smith rolled up on him to cause the knee to bend the wrong way.
Bogut immediately grabbed his knee and writhed in pain until play stopped. He could not put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the court and back to the locker room.
It was another setback for the Warriors, who were already missing starting forward Draymond Green because of a suspension.
