Bollywood’s Pakistani imports
In the past few years, Bollywood has shown keen interest in roping in actors from Pakistan, the country's western neighbour. Now whether it has worked out well is too soon to say, but some have made a mark, while a few are gearing up to set foot in B-Town.
Fawad Khan:
A mild smirk and a mushy gaze was all it took for this young man to steal hearts with his debut film "Khoobsurat". He was royal, dressed to perfection and on top of his acting game in the rom-com.
The confidence and charm worked in his favour, and he was quickly signed for Shakun Batra's "Kapoor & Sons" which also stars Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Rishi Kapoor in key roles.
Ali Zafar:
This man has been around for a while and has featured in a handful of films, six to be precise. The chocolate boy looks and easy-going acting skills have given him a strong footing in the industry. His debut film "Bin Tere Laden" was critically acclaimed but failed to work its magic at the ticket window.
He did a few not-so-important ones in between and then last year, signed a biggie - "Kill Dil" - which had a lot of potential but turned out to be a damp squib.
Mahira Khan:
A debut film opposite Shah Rukh Khan is all things dreams are made of, and this leading lady is living it already.
In Rahul Dholakia's "Raees", she will be seen essaying SRK's wife.
Although she was left out in the first-look posters and teaser, the actress was reportedly in awe of the superstar's stern look in them.
Imran Abbas:
This stud boy looked promising in "Creature 3D" alongside Bipasha Basu but the film failed to click at the box office.
Also, the story line was peppered with loopholes and shoddy special effects which worked negatively for the actor.
The defeat didn't bog him down and he later signed a film - "Jaanisaar" -- opposite fashion entrepreneur Pernia Qureshi which flopped as well.
Humaima Malik:
No one knows if she's coming back or doing more Hindi films, but Humaima Malik was a charmer in Emraan Hashmi's "Raja Natwarlal".
Although all she got to do in the film was kiss the lead actor, dance at a shady bar and be the ever-supportive girlfriend, this Pakistani import could be a gem if she chooses her scripts wisely.
