The agent website and submission guidelines will state the types of books the agent represents.

Agents typically seek books based on various genre and sub-genre classifications including fiction or nonfiction, the reader age group, and the overall subject of the book.

The various genres that classify a book are wide ranging, but easy to define and understand.

The first part of a genre categorizes the book based on the subject of the book. The list of genre categories is constantly growing. Examples of genre categories include comedy, drama, mystery, romance, sci-fi, self-help, and tragedy...

The second part of a genre states the age group of the audience. This part may vary due to the number of books published for individual age groups, but the average classifications include children, juvenile, adult and all ages. Juvenile is typically the largest of the groups because it includes the largest age range including pre-teen, teen and pre-adult.

The third part of a genre states if the book is a true story or a made-up story. The two categories include nonfiction (true) and fiction (not true).

The genre classification for Stop Dreaming, Start Publishing is self-help, all ages, nonfiction.
