Bosh's Season Over After Being Diagnosed With Blood Clots In Lung

Miami Heat star Chris Bosh was diagnosed as having blood clots, more formerly known as pulmonary emboli, in his lung yesterday. He will miss the remainder of the season, according to team and NBA officials.

The Heat released a statement yesterday:

“The Miami HEAT announced today that Chris Bosh will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season, while being treated for blood clots in his lung.

Bosh, who is receiving care under

Miami HEAT team physicians at a Baptist HealthSystem Hospital, is currently resting comfortably. Chris is OK and his prognosis is good.”

After Miami coach Erik Spoelstra minimized Bosh’s absence from this past Wednesday’s practice, many thought the star may have the flu. A report then surfaced that he was having rib pain and the discussion then turned to the potential for blood clots in Bosh’s lung.

Brooklyn Nets forward Mirza Teletovic was recently forced to sit out the remainder of the 2014-15 season after being diagnosed with blot clots in his lung, along with Cleveland Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao last season.

Just earlier this week, former Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerome Kersey died at 52 from a pulmonary embolism.

After treatment with blood thinning medications along with adequate rest after treatment, athletes have been able to resume play and go on with their careers.
