Bowlers to be benefited from new rules, thinks Streak

The International Cricket Council at its annual conference in Barbados on Thursday approved a number of proposed changes to the one-day international format, which will come into effect from July 5.

Among the major changes in the ODI format were removing the batting power-play along with removing the regulation of putting two compulsory catchers in the first 10 overs.

ICC also agreed that five fieldsmen should be allowed outside the circle during 41-50 overs, changing the current law of allowing only four during this period.

The scrapping of batting power plays from ODI along with relaxing some fielding restrictions will help Tigers in the coming days as they are expected to provide more advantage to the bowlers, said Bangladesh’s bowling coach Heath Streak on Sunday.
