Breaking Core of “Occupy Wall Street”? by Ambassador mo

Is “clean-up” a pretext to dismantle “Occupy Wall Street”? Undoubtedly cleaning the place is needed, but NYC Police were imposing another condition – no sleeping bags to tents or even chairs and plastic cover would be allowed any longer if the protesters wanted to return after the clean-up. With rain, snow and winter coming, this undoubtedly would have the effect of breaking the capacity of protesters to continue their “occupation” at Zuccotti Park (PHOTO). Any revolution or movement for real change requires a core. Most of us are consumed by daily life priorities and probably a lack of will to persist be it weather., uncertainty or jobs. The occupiers are the dedicated core. They have many sympathizers as well as supporters (from George Soros to a swath of American workers – SEE FILM REPORT – “Soros & Wall Street Protests” - diplomaticallyincorrect.org/films/movie/soros-wall-street-protests/28740). However, the protesters are not only the cohesive force for a broad range of agenda’s may be the essential core to bring all that into a coherent set of demands and strategies to deliver results. The protesters are also a symbol of where US political and business leaders are failing. They represent that the American Dream may be illusory without the commitment by Washington and Wall Street to make it within realistic reach. Of course, the protests also represent what has been historically and constitutionally the best about America – however, we have been sold a decade or more of “law & order,” conformism other than the veneer and of course the big seller – fear. Occupy Wall Street represents an embarrassment and threat to the establishment, and both on the right and left. It’s strength is in the ability and willingness of the core to persist and challenge. Civil disobedience is a lost art. Demonstration and sit-ins have a proven capacity, from Gandhi to Martin Luther King to Tahir Square in Cairo. Whether you agree with “Occupy Wall Street” in demands and/or tactics, we Americans have a historical and constitutional investment to defend our freedoms. beyond business, financial institutions, authority and even borders – our greatest American asset is being able to think beyond the bounded – that was the American Revolution and businessman/land owning Founding Fathers who established something considerably more valuable beyond their personal investments.
